Broker Check

Our Process

The world of investments and financial advice has changed.  Thirty years ago, a financial advisor might have been called a “stock broker” or “my investment guy,” and was focused primarily on selling you investment products.  Today, working with a financial advisor is much, much more.

We tell clients all the time that “investment decisions should come from financial planning conclusions.”

Our process of working with clients is intentionally broad, deep, and personal, and it starts with what we call an Initial Meeting.  The Initial Meeting is all about getting to know each other!  We can’t guide you properly if we don’t know your financial life – your story, your income, assets, debts, saving habits, goals, etc.  Don’t worry if you aren’t a financial expert – we spend a lot of time on financial education, to make sure we’re speaking the same language.  It’s also a great opportunity for you to learn about us – our story and how we serve clients – so we can build upon a solid foundation of trust.

The next step in the process is the Proposal Meeting.  Having analyzed the data gathered and researched ideas, we present you with recommendations for your financial situation, and how we would implement them if you choose to work with us.  We’ll discuss account types, investment tools, cost structure, and action steps to get from here to there.  You’re not obligated to make a decision right away, but if you decide to work with us, it’s just a matter of paperwork… which, by the way, is nearly 100% paperless for most client situations.

Once accounts are opened and funded, Harris Financial is here to serve you - our client!  We proactively reach out to clients to connect and answer questions, about investment markets or financial planning, and it’s a great opportunity for us to be in tune with your financial life so we can make suggestions.  We encourage clients to be in touch with us regularly as they are making financial decisions, so we can offer ideas and guidance.  We ask all clients to connect with us at least once a year so that we can offer advice that is relevant and timely.
